It has been my privilege to provide psychotherapy services for over 45 years.
My therapeutic style is responsive because listening well is only the first step to building a strong therapeutic relationship. I offer empathic support, as well as helpful information, specific strategies and a clear treatment plan to guide our work together.
My approach is comprehensive because I draw on training in a wide range of specific methods, and because I believe the key to success in psychotherapy is for the therapist to be flexible and base treatment on your specific needs.
Our work is confidential because I do not participate in "managed care" contracts that require the release of progress notes or treatment plans to any third party. All details of your treatment are protected by the "psychotherapist - patient" privilege to the full extent covered by law and professional ethics.
You can find more information on my experience and background on my biography page.
A full range of services
I provide a full range of psychotherapy services including treatment for depression, panic attacks, and specific phobias such as speaking anxiety and flying phobia. I also provide anger and pain management. Since the 2020 shelter-in-place order I provide limited Telehealth services by secure videoconference for residents of California. During the health crisis, Medicare and other insurance plans in California pay for videoconference therapy at the same rate as in-person sessions.
Trauma recovery services
I specialize in the assessment and treatment of acute and chronic post-traumatic stress disorder, panic disorder and other anxiety disorders. For the last 31 years, I have used EMDR, one of the most efficient and effective research-supported treatments available. I am an EMDRIA Certified Clinician and an Approved Consultant in EMDR. I am a full member of several professional associations dedicated to the understanding and treatment of trauma including ITSSS, ISST-D and EMDRIA. Helping individuals and families recover from recent and long-standing traumatic experiences is one of the most rewarding aspects of my work.
